James is very distinct in describing how impacting such a small member can be, and how careful we should be with it (the tongue). He even says we get it wrong almost every time we speak. Only Christ is perfect in his speech. This is somewhat of a comfort to me because I long for and strive to communicate well every time, with every person. Then I stick my foot in my mouth.
At times I can be so disgusted with the things I say.

I agree. I used to lie at every other word. This was back when I was a teenager; and I used to pray after every time that the Lord would forgive me. I know he did; he also allowed me to have victory over that sin. Know we are working on not saying certain things to my wife. I've learned that many times it's better to remain silent; however get my tongue to cooperate is proving a challenge.
